How to play
Spin real franchise eras, draft an all-time roster, then let the season decide. The board cares about how good each season was—not how famous the name is.
The board
Twelve slots: QB · RB · WR · TE · FLEX · FLEX on offense, EDGE · DT · LB · CB · S · D-FLEX on defense. The FLEX seats take any offensive skill player; the D-FLEX takes any defender. You seat players in any order — draft the corners first if that’s your conviction. Other sports keep the same drafting loop with their own seat map: five in basketball, twelve in baseball and hockey, six skill seats in golf, eleven in soccer, eight in college football and cricket. Each sport has its own rulebook page with exact seats and season math.
The rounds
Twelve rounds. Each round spins up one franchise era — a city and a window of years, anywhere back to 1949 — and lays out that era’s whole squad with the real season numbers on every card. Sort them, filter by position or side of the ball, take the player you trust — then choose which open seat he takes. Every run is guaranteed at least one legend era, no era repeats within a run, and the sequence is locked by the board seed before your first pick. Across runs, hundreds of franchise windows reshuffle every game, so there’s no board to memorize — the skill that carries over is knowing the players. (The Daily is the deliberate exception: one shared board, same spins for everyone, so scores compare honestly.)
Re-rolls
One per side of the ball — an offense re-roll for the first six rounds, a defense re-roll for the back half. A re-roll throws back the round’s era and deals its replacement — spend it on a dead board, not a decent one. The replacement era is committed before the run starts, so on shared boards a re-roll shows every player the exact same substitute: there is nothing to fish for.
The season
Seventeen regular-season weeks. Win at least eleven to reach the three playoff rounds; once there, a loss ends the run on the spot. Sweep all twenty and you are perfect. Every run earns a verdict on your result card, by wins, top to bottom:
- 20–0 — the perfect season. Most finished boards fall short.
- 17 wins or more — the top tier.
- 14 or more — a strong finish.
- 11 or more — you reached the playoffs.
- 8 or more — middling. Nobody hangs a banner for it.
- Below that — the roast comes with the verdict.
Every seat contributes to the position-weighted team score, so balance still matters. How the ratings behind this are built is published in full: how the ratings work. Other sports use the same six-rung ladder with season lengths and cutoffs tuned to that sport’s schedule; globally native middle-rung words such as TOP FOUR, MADE THE CUT, and SEPTEMBER SIDE can replace the display label without changing the grade underneath.
The games
- Daily Challenge — one board a day, same spins for everyone. Resume that board until you finish; it flips at midnight Eastern and has its own fair leaderboard.
- Classic Draft — a fresh sports board every run. Where perfect seasons get chased.
- Blind Draft — the ball-knower mode: no season stats while you draft, just names and eras. You draft on what you know, not the box score. The full season receipts return when the run ends.
- Ranked — every finished board moves your rating. Placement takes eight games, then you climb tiers from Undrafted to First Overall.
- Live Draft — the online board. A fresh one deals every ten minutes, and everyone on it gets the same spins. Post your run, take the top seat; rosters unlock once you’ve posted your own.
- Challenge a Friend — finish a run, then send your board. They draft your exact spins on their own screen, and the two records settle it.
- Knockout — a bracket tournament for 4, 8, or 16, online. Every player in a round drafts the same board; the better record advances (ties break on the sheet score). Rosters stay hidden until a matchup is decided, and an unplayed board forfeits after 24 hours — nobody gets held hostage.
- Tournament — the scheduled competitive board. Enter the next event, draft when your round opens, advance by record, and share the championship when you win the whole thing.
Streaks and Pennants
Finish any full draft to mark today and build your play streak. It’s forgiving: a missed day is covered by your rest day, and even after two missed days you can win the streak back the next day — it only resets once you’ve been away longer. Pennants are the house currency, and they are earned only: 25 for every finished run, 50 more for a top-tier finish, 250 more for a perfect season, 20 for finishing Call the Record or Draft the Record, 300 for finishing Pick the Peak, and a daily claim worth 100. Nobody can buy a Pennant.
Fair play
Every competitive surface is decided server-side: the spins, the re-rolls, the season itself. Shared boards are identical for everyone regardless of draft order, a Daily board can’t be rehearsed through a challenge link, and your own challenge link won’t let you replay your own seed. What you see on the scoreboard is what actually happened.

More than football
The same game runs on more than one sport — same drafting, same era-fair ratings, each sport’s own history and season shape. Basketball plays a starting five across the modern eras through the true 82-game season; baseball fields a full lineup and pitching staff against a 162-game season, with franchise eras back to 1871; college football, college basketball, golf, soccer, hockey, cricket, women’s basketball, and Aussie rules bring their own roster shapes. Each sport has its own Daily board, leaderboard, and rulebook: basketball, baseball, college football, college basketball, golf, soccer, hockey, cricket, women’s basketball, Aussie rules.
Questions people actually ask
How do you play Draft Challenger?
Each round spins one real franchise era — a city and a window of years — and lays out that squad with real season stats. You draft twelve players into twelve seats in any order, then the season simulates week by week. Run the table for a perfect season.
How many players do you draft?
Football drafts twelve. Other sports field their own lineup: a full baseball batting order plus arms, a basketball starting five, a soccer XI, six golfers across BOMB, IRON, and SHORT skill seats, two hockey lines plus a blue line and goalies, an eight-seat cricket XI core, or an eight-player college football offense. Basketball Classic Draft also offers an optional ten-seat Full Roster shape.
What are the re-rolls?
One per side of the ball — an offense re-roll for rounds one through six, a defense re-roll for the back half. A re-roll throws back the round’s era and deals its replacement; spend it on a dead board, not a decent one. On shared boards the replacement is the same for everyone, so there is nothing to fish for.
What are the game modes?
Classic Draft (a fresh sports board and full season every run), Daily Challenge, Ranked, Blind Draft, Live Draft, Challenge a Friend, Knockout brackets, and scheduled Tournaments.
Do you need an account?
